ISLAMABAD:Islamabad Capital Territory (ICT) Police’s Robbery and Dacoity Unit (RDU) has arrested 20 members of nine dacoit gangs during the past 15 days, recovering Rs 20 million worth of looted valuables. An official told APP on Friday that the arrested suspects—linked with murder, armed robbery, street hold-ups, house burglaries, shop heists and petrol-pump snatchings—had been operating across Islamabad, Rawalpindi, Taxila and nearby regions. He said Safe City cameras, human intelligence and technical surveillance helped trace the gangs, enabling the recovery of Rs 20 million worth of gold jewellery, cash, mobile phones and other items, concluding 36 cases.During the press conference held at the Rescue-15 Field Office, Deputy Inspector General (DIG) Islamabad Muhammad Jawad Tariq, flanked by SSP Investigation and SSP Operations, gave a detailed briefing on the arrests and recoveries. The atmosphere reflected a sense of relief among complainants as they received keys and recovered items from police teams—many expressing appreciation for the ICT Police’s performance. He added that the crackdown was carried out on the directives of Inspector General of Police (IGP)  Syed Ali Nasir Rizvi, and said that sustained operations against organised dacoit networks had significantly reduced major crimes in the federal capital.DIG Tariq reaffirmed that ICT Police will continue its zero-tolerance approach against criminal gangs to safeguard citizens’ lives and property.
