Punjab Police’s anti-narcotics crackdown continues vigorously across the province

Lahore:In the light of the directives of Chief Minister Punjab Maryam Nawaz Sharif to make the province drug-free, Punjab Police’s vigorous and continuous crackdown against drug dealers is underway across the province. Punjab Police spokesperson while briefing about the details, said that during the last 24 hours, 34 drug dealers were arrested and 34 cases were registered against them. During the crackdown, 49 kilograms of charas, 2 kilograms of ice, 7 kilograms of heroin and one and a half kilograms of opium were recovered from the possession of drug dealers. Punjab Police spokesperson further said that during the crackdown continuing for the last two weeks, 1,200 drug dealers have been arrested from across the province, while 1,228 cases have been registered. During this period, 1,807 kilograms of charas, 47 kilograms of ice, 207 kilograms of heroin and 23 kilograms of opium were recovered from the possession of drug dealers, while during the operations 13 drug dealers were sent to hell.

Inspector General of Police Punjab Dr. Usman Anwar has directed that the crackdown against major drug dealers and smugglers be further accelerated. He said that all suspects involved in the drug supply chain should be brought to justice and awarded severe punishments. IG Punjab further directed that actions against elements involved in drug peddling in and around educational institutions and hostels be further intensified, while strict action should also be taken against suspects involved in the online buying and selling of drugs so that the young generation can be protected from the menace of drugs.
