MULTAN: The Anti-Corruption Establishment (ACE) Multan Region has released its performance report for the fiscal year 2025, revealing large-scale action against corruption across Multan, Khanewal, Vehari and Lodhran districts, leading to significant recoveries, arrests and prosecutions.
According to Regional Director ACE Multan Basharat Nabi, a total of 775 inquiries related to corruption in various government departments were conducted during the year, resulting in the registration of cases against officials as well as their private facilitators.The report showed that 253 government employees and private facilitators were arrested and sent to jail. Additionally, 64 corrupt officials, including officers of Grade 19, 18 and 17, were caught red-handed while accepting bribes during raids carried out in coordination with a first-class magistrate.An amount of Rs 2.225 million was recovered during these trap operations.Furthermore, 27 proclaimed offenders were also arrested.During the reporting period, ACE Multan completed and submitted 264 challans to the courts, while 267 inquiries were resolved through compromise. Another 67 inquiries were transferred to the relevant departments for further action.
Highlighting major cases, Basharat Nabi said the largest corruption case of the year involved the theft of insulin medicines at Nishtar Hospital Multan and Shehbaz Sharif Hospital.He added that inquiries were also pursued against officials in several departments, including Police, Revenue, Sub-Registrar, Irrigation, Municipal Corporation, Parks and Horticulture Authority (PHA), Housing and Building, Highways, Education, Excise, Labour, Multan Development Authority (MDA) and the Food Department.ACE Multan also took decisive action against land grabbers, successfully recovering 16 marlas of valuable government land worth approximately Rs 10 million. Moreover, the region achieved direct recoveries amounting to Rs 148.411 million in various corruption cases.Director General Anti-Corruption Punjab, Sohail Zafar Chatha, appreciated the outstanding performance of ACE Multan, particularly the significant recoveries and enforcement actions, and congratulated Regional Director Basharat Nabi and his team for their effective and result-oriented efforts.
