ISLAMABAD, Oct 18 (NNI): Federal Minister for Poverty Alleviation and Social Safety and Chairperson BISP, Shazia Marri has said that democracy is indispensable for national integrity and stability.
Addressing a news conference, along with Special Assistant to the prime minister on Poverty Alleviation and Social Safety, Faisal Karim Kundi in Islamabad, she said that “Government has distributed Rs. 67.79 out of Rs 70 billion among 2.6 million flood-hit families of the country.
Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif had approved Rs. 70 billion for flood-affected people. Rehabilitation and reconstruction work is underway with the support of Word Bank and the United Nations.”
She said that a donors’ conference in France in collaboration with French President and the UN will be held soon to support the flood-hit people in the country. “Federal government will provide full support to farmers of Sindh and Balochistan as seeds will be provided to them.”
Shazia Marri said that a person contested the election on seven seats because of his incompetency. This person is not ready to go to the assembly.
“Imran Khan had contested by-elections for satisfaction of his own ego and not for representing his voters in the parliament. Imran Khan who is celebrating his victory will neither sit in the parliament nor become the voice of those who voted for him and expressed their confidence in him”, she said. NNI
