Gujranwala (City Reporter) Anti-Corruption has arrested Hafizabad Building Inspector Waqar Azeem for embezzling Rs 350,000 through forgery. This operation was carried out under the direction of Director General Anti-Corruption Punjab Sohail Zafar Chatha and under the supervision of Divisional Director Gujranwala Amjad Shahzad. It has been reported that a citizen named Mubashir Iqbal, a resident of Taj Colony Hafizabad, filed a report alleging that he paid Rs 355,000 as a map fee to Building Inspector Waqar Azeem and Assistant Muhammad Waseem for the approval of the building map. Later, he gave a copy of the challan, which was checked and found to be bogus and the stamp on it was not from the bank. The inquiry conducted by the Anti-Corruption proved the allegation, on which a case was registered against Building Inspector Waqar Azeem and he was arrested. Director Anti-Corruption Gujranwala Division Amjad Shahzad said that corrupt government officers and employees should correct their Qiblah, otherwise they will be dealt with with an iron hand.
