Lahore:The Punjab Police has also come out with a stand on reports that police officers including Islamabad IG Punjab Dr Usman Anwar and CCPO Lahore Bilal Siddique Kamiana were given expensive plots at low prices. The National Police Foundation (NPF) has clarified its plot allotment policy for police officers, saying that each officer is eligible for only one plot during his career, provided he meets certain conditions and pays the relevant expenses.According to officials, allotment of plots is not automatic and is usually subject to NPF approval after 29 years of service. Officers have to pay the actual cost of the land and development charges, as fixed under a 2016 court judgment so that the organisation does not profit from the process.
They said that eligibility for NPF plots is often dependent on seniority, such as attaining Grade 21 or serving as a Deputy Inspector General (DIG). Officers who serve in other departments, such as IB, for a specified period may be eligible for plots in the schemes of these organisations.
