ISLAMABAD: The Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Pakistan has reaffirmed its stance on keeping sports separate from politics and announced its decision to send its Cricket Team to India for the upcoming ICC Cricket World Cup 2023.
Despite existing tensions in bilateral relations with India, Pakistan believes that fulfilling international sports-related obligations is essential, demonstrating a constructive and responsible approach. The decision comes in response to India’s refusal to send its Cricket Team to Pakistan for the Asia Cup.
However, Pakistan also expressed deep concerns about the safety and security of its Cricket Team during their visit to India. The authorities plan to communicate these concerns to both the International Cricket Council and the Indian authorities, seeking assurance of full safety measures for the Pakistani players.
The participation of Pakistan in the Cricket World Cup aims to uphold the spirit of sportsmanship and foster positive engagement among nations, irrespective of political differences. As the event draws near, the focus now shifts to ensuring a safe and secure environment for all participating teams, including Pakistan, during the prestigious tournament.
