ISLAMABAD: Caretaker Interior Minister Dr. Gohar Ijaz, accompanied by Secretary Interior Aftab Akbar Durrani, conducted a visit to the Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) Headquarters Thursday, where they were warmly welcomed by Director General (DG) FIA Ahmad Ishaque Jehangir.
During the visit, the Interior Minister was honored with a guard of honor by a contingent of FIA officers and participated in a high-level meeting with FIA officials. The meeting, attended by all Assistant Directors-General (ADGs), Directors, and senior officers, included a comprehensive briefing on the agency’s operations and a presentation of the annual performance report of all FIA wings.
Commending the performance of the agency’s wings, the Caretaker Minister praised ongoing projects aimed at modernizing the FIA to meet contemporary requirements. He stressed the increasing importance of modern technology in addressing challenges such as human smuggling, trafficking, and cybercrime, emphasizing the need for effective utilization of technology to combat these issues.
The Minister highlighted the importance of enhancing the capacity of FIA officials and ensuring their adaptability to modern technological requirements. He urged for optimal utilization of resources to improve public service delivery.
The visit underscores the caretaker government’s commitment to strengthening law enforcement agencies and enhancing their capabilities to tackle evolving security challenges.
